Stimulating Innovation

Stimulate

Be inspired, creative and do it better with instant connections and results;
E-enabled, i-connected, automated, reinvigorated, added capabilities,
leveraging real value and opportunities!

While some big companies and accelerated programs may successfully innovate, there is no reason why the rest do not take advantage of these opportunities and help build a culture for innovation that transcends all boundaries. Many organisations and countries continue to strive to innovate while their innovative potential haemorrhages when talent and opportunities are stifled, inhibited, and discouraged with the many prevalent limitations.

Talented individuals, ideas and capabilities are either capped or lost to rivals thru overseas opportunities with better incentives, conditions, dynamic environments and prospects. To stem this tide some appreciation is needed on how to innovate, reposition, transform and adapt to achieve the desired results. Effectively, to strive towards a culture of innovation that delivers. This entails an investment and commitment to innovation that is critical to drive economic growth, especially when competition is fierce and second place holds little reward.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD and their Innovation Strategies offers some general insights and guidelines. But, considerably more is needed to link global efforts towards advanced infrastructures and models for innovation to become effective with better systems. Clearly there is lack of innovation spirit and governance that steers, co-ordinates efforts and inspires strategies. History holds many valuable lessons that beckon for better models to stimulate innovation with new incentives and structures that can endure. Currently, it seems that a little knowledge is dangerous when the pursuit for innovation contributes to poor systems and an uncertain future as history repeats itself with half-hearted efforts.
Some ideas to restructure and inject incentives that can overcome the prevalent limitations are discussed in this article:

  • Break down the barriers
  • Enable Intellectual Property
  • Empower with better structures and incentives
  • Protectionism policies or forge new industries.
  • Legacy versus Transformations

Resolutions

Resolutions
Direction, enlightenment, purpose, hope and peace
can evolve from our resolutions!
Define the stairway to our own destiny through fitness,
health, peace and life!

It is easy to ignore the big challenges, or repeat the same mistakes from year to year to get nowhere fast. Why not reconsider what we value, what we don’t, and what we would like to improve in a staircase to our own definition of heaven.
Before embarking on the next set of resolutions a good dose of reality can help appreciate what may be important at this time of life and what will work for a better future. Identify the habits and routines that have not helped, and their connection to destructive trends or systems, e.g. corruption, discrimination, violent behaviour, rising prices, financial difficulties…to at least set a positive direction. Rethinking the vicious cycles that contribute to our detriment with sometimes dire consequences will take some thought.
Why not use these realisations to fuel the drive for resolutions that can improve our lives, and that of future generations. Typical resolutions might include:

  • Reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Dislodge any contributions to corruption or dysfunctional systems.
  • Be prepared for any situation.
  • Financial security.
  • Quality time with the family.
  • Break a record or move up a level.
  • Discover romance or be a better friend.
  • Outstanding tasks, issues..e.g.(bucket list)
  • New skills and capabilities.
  • Quit addictions or bad habits.
  • Fitness.
  • Improved health (mind, body & soul)
  • Live life to its fullest.
  • Take up the challenge.
  • Make a difference, or pursue a good cause.
  • Spiritual fulfillment as we face our own mortality.
  • Stop procrastinating
  • Innovate, plan, and achieve.
  • Each challenge may need a plan that span years with a target for next year. In addition, ineffective organisations with vicious cycles that impact the challenge may require a serious overhaul. With collaboration this is possible by using some influence or withholding financial contributions to encourage the acceptance of constructive requirements, i.e. change towards improved transparency and a positive direction.
Some steps and valued advice to consider in the next plan to manage these challenges are discussed further in this article with the following:

    • Rethink our position
    • Discover new opportunities
    • Be smart, positive and focussed
    • Convert any weakness and build on strengths.
    • Engage and contribute to a bigger vision or good cause.
    • Build a culture for innovation; enabling, inspiring, encouraging and supporting each other.

Listen, learn and act to make the most of every opportunity!
Be brave, be bold and be adventurous to succeed!

As the world strides faster with new technologies, concepts and emerging markets, we need to keep our finger on the pulse of change, and advance whenever possible. The downsides are costly decisions, bleak futures, or wasted efforts with little results, not to mention the risk of another burst economic bubble.
Opportunities come in many forms from challenges, unmet needs, savings, advancing, and enlightenment to sharing and experiencing even more prospects. It might seem like a battle of minute changes or calculated risks to turn risks into opportunities. But, the experience to overcome the many reservations that hold most back is a reward that never ends. It brings confidence, experience, and maturity, which are qualities attributed to entrepreneurs that strive to never miss an opportunity.
So what will it take to rise above the routines, fears of changing visions or policies, to venture an idea and run with it?
There are opportunities at every corner to dismiss any phobias, enable and grasp our potential that are discussed further under the following:

It’s only inconceivable until we do it!

    Inconceivable

No dream too big, no challenge too great, and no vision is unreachable!
The next Game changer, new boundaries, industry shaker, transformation model,
    or the world' s salvation!
Attain the inconceivable with a little ingenuity!

Without experiencing anything better, it is easy to consider many challenges as inconceivable. We all need to adapt to new technologies, identify and seize opportunities, innovate whenever possible and forge ahead to survive and thrive. It starts now by overcoming any reservations as we embark on learning the tips and developing the capabilities that will make a difference in our lives.
Be brave and tackle the inconceivable, the many challenges or life's obstacles that are ignored, accepted or adopted without question. That’s right; nothing ventured, nothing gained. With a little commitment, collaboration and effort we can surprise ourselves and expand our capabilities in the process by learning more tricks or strategies that work.
Many of today’s achievements might have seemed inconceivable over 20 years ago, as some practices then would be considered barbaric today. With our population explosion and rapid build-up of skills, innovations and capabilities contributing to a faster rate of change, what is inconceivable today might not be tomorrow.
Even with continuous improvements organisations can get stuck repeating the same mistakes, confined to self-imposed boundaries or inhibited to reach their true potential as their capabilities are not fully exercised. Too often issues are discussed and decided on face value without digging that bit deeper, i.e. rationalising over reason.
Generally fresh ideas can make a significant difference to appreciate new options or the key to the next level of development. This may require independent consultants, the intrepreneur within or ideas like the tips in this article to broaden our outlook for alternative solutions.
For example, with the right focus we can improve to get a better Return on Investment, align our activities towards a better vision to lift quality, efficiency and standards for sustainability. Thus, raise our capabilities and take quantum leaps with opportunities that arise with technological advancements, e.g. enabling innovation, dedication to learning, and entrepreneurship while evolving our values to stay connected. That is, do what is needed to attain 100% rather than accept anything less. Provided we realise what is needed, and avoid the needless efforts that get little results, i.e. caught in a vicious cycle.
A thirst for knowledge can separate the experts that will appreciate the opportunities, challenges or associated strategies. Next time a CEO gives their well thought out speech, not only understand what they would like everyone to believe. But, appreciate what is really happening by recognising their position and prospective approach to what may be their challenge and vision to attain the inconceivable? Thus, we learn something with every event, rather than dismiss it as another mystery.
All it takes is to improve our ingenuity skills with the suggested tips that are discussed further in these areas:

    • Insights
    • Capabilities
    • Foresight
    • Conception
    • Determination

What is missing in today’s innovation?

    UInnovation

Invoke unconditional innovation by enabling collaboration,
    the entrepreneurial culture
and the courage to do it better, faster and to do it now!

There was never a greater need for faster and more effective innovation. As seen with Financial Technologies, FinTech, the global race is on to embrace new technologies, knowing that any one idea could revolutionise any industry. Disruptive technologies are a threat as they can override the legal barriers in the absence of protective structures and spread faster eliminating any time to react.
There is a clear business case to invest in innovation like never before given the do or die situation for Industries. A business case that includes improved returns, human capital and better long term prospects. Governments really need to lift their game for improved GDP and global economic stability. Each business, industry, market and country is challenged to innovate and work that much harder so they can lead or just keep up, if at all possible.
It appears that most may believe that the growing number of innovation centres in Mega cities will meet this challenge and dominate innovation into the future, as demonstrated by the level of Venture Capital invested in these start-ups.
Even with their accelerated programs encouraging collaboration they still follow conventions, or ideologies that impose their own barriers.
What might be needed is to lift innovation practices to new standards where collaboration is taken on a grand scale with unconditional innovation, even if it might be inconceivable today. This approach taps into an aligned vision that aims to shape disruptive technologies and carve a path towards a better future, whilst breaking down the barriers created from corrupted and ineffective systems.
This article continues to explore what is needed to achieve this level of innovation with the following:

    • Broader Vision.
    • Nurture Human Capital.
    • Appreciate complexity.
    • Enable creativity.
    • Engage globally.
    • Collaborate.
    • Action plans.
    • Implementation with immediate results.

Managing on the fringe of ineffective or disruptive systems.

    ISystems
Hope lingers beyond the confines of our daily obstacles with better models!

Our world may seem to shrink as compromises accumulate and options become limited. The typical mindset for convenient solutions relies too much on that magic bullet when ineffective systems or disruptive technologies can dominate to create further turmoil, if not managed.

Disruptive technologies considering their infancy may harness the potential industry game changer to overcome ineffective systems or it could add to our problems without some resemblance of direction or control, e.g. Streaming –Music, Crowd funding, mobile payments, Fintech – finance, drone management – delivery+, sharing economy (e.g.uber and Airbnb), big data to the internet of things.

Despite the years of investment and commitment given to some industries or cultures there is a need for a better direction or transformation as seen with the following examples:

    • The current surge of FinTech, latest financial technology opportunities to replace what could become redundant financial systems tomorrow.
    • Deceptive advertising that contributes to growing distrust.
    • Global challenges with disheartening trends and adverse effects, e.g. creating a waste society and the growing dependency on more elaborate security.
    • Health system that relies on new medications at the exclusion of more creative solutions.
    • Political systems filled with good intentions that falls short to inhibit creativity while generating more issues.
    • Legal systems that make poor band aid solutions to mental health, political unrest, or under resourced challenges.
    • Deteriorating Business to Business relations as profit takes priority over sustainability.
    • The many cultures of indulgence that extends beyond junk food and casual alcohol to decisions where rationalizing dominates over reason.
    • Education systems conditioning self-imposed limitations and a mindset to accept the status quo.

Potential solutions may remain unexplored with a growing need for common insights, alignment and supported visions for actions towards a better direction. This article continues to suggest possible transformations in a few areas:

      • Education.
      • Politics.
      • Law.
      • Finance.
      • Business.

    That elusive challenge.

    Challenges
Wisdom embodies more than the current body of knowledge to unmask the elusive challenge!

Challenges come in all shapes and sizes, while the elusive challenge can be front and centre with all our attention or taunting with dwindling hope or worse, accepted as a lost cause and another self-imposed barrier.
Even with our best efforts, what might not be so obvious are the challenges that are never resolved, that appear every year despite any form of continuous improvement. These reflect on the organisations maturity level, or weaknesses that can define us. Then, there are the challenges that are never considered, as complacent organisations ignore outstanding issues, missed opportunities or broader visions, needed to explore a greater potential.
Whether it is the ROI challenge, pursuit of profit, efficiency, growth, unravelling a paradox, cultures of oppression, stigmas, close to death experiences or implementing a strategy, the key to each challenge has the same underlining premise; to develop beyond the confines of our conditioning or limitations. This may require some additional skills or extraordinary efforts as described in the sections of this article:

    • Research
    • Problem solving.
    • Management skills.
    • Implementing a plan or strategy.
    • Evolving

Connect to harness and leverage the internets potential

    internetBD
    C O N F I D E N T I A L

Knowledge is power, Fortune favours the brave and Faith can move mountains sets the steps to leverage your assets and capitalise on each new innovation!

"The internet of things " vaguely describes the current migration and growth of the internet economy that is worth trillions of dollars. It transcends across various media’s like social networking, mobile devices, and cloud computing to make use of numerous applications (e.g. Blogs, emails, databases, sensor data, documents and social media content) eVolving with big data to a new age for artificial intelligence. Yet, we still need to shape it’s evolvement to reach a potential we can all appreciate and thrive on. Grasping any opportunity to cut through the complexity, rectify poor system’s, fill the gaps and voids that spell unmet needs.
In an age of convenience, humanity is faced with new challenges, partly created from the complexity of technology, the pressures with each market, conditioning, and manipulating everyone to submission, i.e. left with a mindset to accept the status quo or reprogrammed to take the easy way out. The internet can either continue to become a minefield of data dominated by waste, out dated or misleading information and mediocre technology with promises of something better, while everyone scrimmages for something useful, or it could become so much more.
Quality and Value is still left to the eye of the beholder, provided they have the competence to recognize and translate it to something productive. The proposed steps to leverage technology will be explored further in this article through these sections:

    • Insight and focus.
    • Build the appropriate technical competence.
    • Manage the risks (Reputation, Cyber-security…).
    • Unite and share our visions, goals and efforts.
    • Leverage.

    Critical skills for decision making.

    DecisionSkills
    Good decisions are not based on titles, qualifications, or popularity;
Try compassion, intelligence and lots of imagination, knowledge and skills.!

The way we make decisions can have a significant impact in all our lives from business to daily decisions that can affect our success and quality of life.
Some decisions can have devastating consequences or impact our reputation or financial situation to create a long and difficult challenge to recover.
We can all appreciate the many situations that can result in poor decisions, from a lack of knowledge to emotional reactions, like impulse buying that can cripple any budget even if budgeting enables better choices.
We tend to be limited and habitual in how we make decisions, unconsciously constrained by our own understanding, the politics of the situation, conditioning and clouded influences to be driven by emotions, need to conform, rationalise, compromise, meet expectations, avoid any risk or commitment.
There is an opportunity to make better decisions if we make decision making a more conscious process and develop key capabilities. Some areas that we could improve beyond the traditional models include :

    • Broader intelligence.
    • Drive to pursue a better understanding and much needed insights.
    • Critical thinking and analytical abilities.
    • Decision making strategies.
    • Negotiation skills.
    • Simple steps to decision making and navigation.
